'Broadway to the Boardwalk' Series Continues with 'Footloose'

July 8 - August 22

"Broadway to the Boardwalk" continues with the second show in the series, Footloose. Trump Plaza and Jersey Shore Entertainment present this movie-turned-musical that is well known for its high energy, up-beat songs and dazzling dance numbers. Showtimes are Tuesday and Wednesday at 2pm, Thursday at 2 & 8pm, Friday and Saturday at 4 & 9pm, and Sunday at 2 & 7pm. Tickets are $25.

The story in Footloose centers on the character of Ren, a young outsider from a big city who moves to a small town only to find that his favorite pastime, dancing, is illegal. He leads the local youth in a challenge against the town elders in an effort to allow dancing in the community. The songs sprinkled throughout the show include "Footloose," "Holding Out for a Hero," "Let's Hear it for the Boy" and "Almost Paradise."

Country Icon Loretta Lynn

July 31

The "Coal Miner's Daughter", a tag that refers to a hit single, an album, a best-selling autobiography, an Oscar-winning film and to Loretta Lynn herself, has journeyed from the poverty of the Kentucky Hills to Nashville super stardom to her current status as an American icon. The showtime in Boardwalk Hall's Adrian Phillips Ballroom is 9pm. Tickets are $65.50, $45.50 and $30.50.

In 1976, her autobiography became a New York Times bestseller and in 1980, the book was made into the hit film Coal Miner's Daughter starring Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones. Her latest album, Van Lear Rose, with it's moody arrangements, rocking guitars and intimate songwriting, can only extend Lynn's profound influence into a new century -- and to a new generation of fans.
