Copa Room

Cornell Gunter's Coasters, Elsberry Hobbs' Drifters and the Platters

August 3-15

Cornell Gunter's Coasters, Elsberry Hobbs' Drifters and the Platters will perform in the Copa Room at the Sands Casino Hotel beginning Tuesday, Aug. 3, and will finish their run by performing in Brighton Park as part of Atlantic City's 150th Birthday Celebration. Showtimes are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 8pm; Friday, 9pm, and Saturday at 7 & 10pm. Tickets are $30.

Celebrating over 35 years of entertaining, the Coasters were reborn when Cornell Gunter gave the group a modern and theatrical approach to their hit songs including "Charlie Brown," "Yakety Yak" and "Poison Ivy."

Elsberry Hobbs was a member of the Drifters from 1958-1996. After his death in 1996, his wife Odessa united many of her late husband's former group members as Elsberry Hobbs' Drifters. Their hits include "There Goes My Baby," "This Magic Moment," and "Save the Last Dance for Me." The Platters formed in 1953, and in 1955 the ballad "Only You" catapulted the group to stardom. The Platters went on to have four No. 1 songs and 16 gold records, including "The Great Pretender," and "You'll Never Know."
